Former Liberal Democrat Leader Paddy Ashdown has visited Musgrove Park Hospital with Taunton constituency MP Jeremy Browne to back plans for a new surgical centre. He toured the wards in the Old Building before being shown around the new Beacon Centre.

Paddy Ashdown said:

"It is important for Somerset that Musgrove Park Hospital continues to benefit from new investment.

"I am very supportive of Jeremy Browne's campaign to replace part of the Old Building with a new surgical centre. The Beacon Centre is very impressive and I am pleased that there are ambitious plans for more new development at Musgrove Park."

Jeremy Browne said:

"The Old Building was built during the Second World War and it desperately needs replacing. That is why I will do everything possible to support the construction of a new surgical centre at Musgrove Park.

"I want Taunton Deane residents to enjoy the best facilities and the highest standard of care. The Beacon Centre is a wonderful development and a new surgical centre is the next big project that needs to be completed at Musgrove Park."
